What I collect
- When you get in touch: your name, email address, phone number and your message.
- When you ask for the free audio: your first name, email address, and whether you’d like occasional emails from me.
- When you book: the details on the registration form, including your date of birth, address, how you heard about me, your smoking or vaping history, any previous experience of hypnotherapy, and your typed signature.
- During your sessions: my notes, and the personalised recording I make for you.
- Payments: a record of what you’ve paid, for my accounts.
- On this website: if you accept analytics cookies, information about how you use the site. See the cookie policy.
Some of this, such as your smoking history and anything you tell me about your health, is special category data. I only use it to prepare for and provide your sessions, with your explicit consent, which you give on the registration form.
How I use it
| What for | Lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Replying to your enquiry and arranging your session | Taking steps at your request before a contract, and my legitimate interest in running my practice |
| Providing your session and the personalised recording | Contract. For health information, your explicit consent |
| Sending you the free audio, and occasional emails if you ask for them | Consent |
| Keeping records for insurance, professional standards and tax | Legal obligation and legitimate interests |
| Understanding how the website is used | Consent, through the cookie choice |
You don’t have to give me your information, but without it I can’t book or provide your session.
Who sees it
I don’t sell your information or share it for anyone else’s marketing. I use a small number of services to run my practice, which handle information on my behalf:
- Netlify, which hosts this website and receives the forms you send
- Google Analytics, only if you accept analytics cookies
- Zoom, for online sessions
- My email provider
Some of these companies are based in the United States. Where your information is transferred outside the UK, it is protected by the safeguards UK data protection law requires, such as the UK–US data bridge or approved contract terms.
The testimonial videos are hosted by YouTube and Bunny Stream. Nothing loads from them until you press play.
Confidentiality
Everything you tell me is confidential. I won’t disclose that you are a client, or anything about your sessions, without your permission, and my notes are kept securely.
- I may leave a voicemail on the number you give me, unless you ask me not to.
- I may discuss anonymised details with a supervisor, for professional development. You will never be identifiable.
- I would only break confidentiality where the law requires it, such as a court order, or where I believe someone is at risk of serious harm.
How long I keep it
- Client records: seven years after your last session, or for under-18s, seven years after their 18th birthday, in line with my professional body’s guidance and my insurer’s requirements.
- Enquiries that don’t lead to a session: up to 12 months.
- Free audio sign-ups: if you’ve asked for emails, until you unsubscribe. Otherwise up to 12 months.
- Analytics: up to 14 months.
Under 16s
If you are under 16, a parent or guardian needs to give consent on your behalf.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the information I hold about you
- ask me to correct anything that’s wrong
- ask me to delete your information, in some circumstances
- ask me to limit how I use it, or object to my using it
- ask for your information in a format you can take elsewhere
- withdraw your consent at any time
To use any of these rights, email me. It’s free, and I’ll reply within one month. I don’t make decisions about you by automated means.
If you’re unhappy with how I’ve handled your information, please tell me first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
